Funding Advice & Support
What Is a Tuition Fee Loan ?
If you are a UK/EU student, who meets certain criteria, you can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan from the UK government. This will cover the entire cost of tuition for every year of study, which means you do not have to pay any money towards your fees, while you are studying.
The loan is not means-tested so, unlike the Maintenance Loan for living costs, it doesn’t matter what your household income is. You will pay back the loan only after you graduate and have an annual income above the set threshold.
You can find out more about the loans, including information for EU students, on the student finance section of the Government’s GOV.UK website.

Maintenance Loan
The Maintenance Loan is designed to support full-time ordinarily resident UK students and settled students with their living costs e.g. food, rent and travel.
The amount you can get depends on where you live, where you study and your household income.
Like the Tuition Fee Loan, the Maintenance Loan has to be paid back only when you have left university, are in employment and earning above a set threshold.
Similar living cost support is available for students from Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales – contact your relevant funding body for more information.
